  • 关键控制点(涂布头、烘干区)——材料与人工双升级;

  • 辅助仓储区——适当降级,成本立降;

  • 采用国产高性能替代材料,降低20%主材成本;

What Drives the Cost of a Cleanroom?

A Straightforward Breakdown of Labor and Materials

Every project owner has the same question when they see a cleanroom quote: why does one “clean” room cost several times more than another? The difference lies in two buckets—labor and materials. Here is a jargon-free look at where the money actually goes.

1. Envelope & Enclosure

Walls

  • Rock-wool sandwich panels are the default because they are fire-safe and economical. Cutting the rock-wool density from 80 % to 40 % lowers the material price but also weakens fire resistance, insulation and structural strength.

  • On critical lines, we specify full-density 80 % fill and, where impact risk is high, upgrade to stainless-steel skins that double corrosion life.

Floors

  • Epoxy self-leveling is common, yet heavy forklift traffic can abrade it and release particles that ruin coating yields.

  • We zone the floor: stainless-steel plating in traffic aisles, epoxy in precision areas, and raised flooring in high-load zones—each choice adds rigging and leveling labor.

Doors & Windows

  • Standard aluminum windows are cheaper to install.

  • Purification doors, however, must seal to ≤0.5 mm gaps, which multiplies fitting and adjustment labor.

2. Air System

Filter Cascade

  • A basic setup uses primary + secondary filters. Upgrading to full-coverage HEPA or ULPA doubles material cost and doubles the number of filter frames, gaskets and leak-test points.

  • Every extra filter stage means more duct joints, more welds, more labor hours.

Ductwork

  • Galvanized sheet metal is the baseline.

  • Where chemical vapors are present, we switch to stainless-steel fully-welded ducts—raising labor by roughly 30–50 % but eliminating corrosion-related rework.

Airflow & Pressure

  • Each jump in cleanliness class—from 20 air changes per hour to 300—adds fans, larger ducts, thicker insulation and more labor-intensive duct hangers.

3. Precision Climate Control

Accuracy ±0.5 °C / ±3 % RH

  • Requires three-stage refrigeration, precision air-handlers and FFU temperature control. Copper piping and sensor wiring expand the labor budget by about 40 %.

  • Dry coils (secondary chilled-water loops) cost more in labor than direct-expansion units but maintain tighter control.

4. Process-Specific Upgrades

Anti-static Measures

  • Basic copper bus bars work for most zones.

  • We add triggered static eliminators at entry air-locks—extra mounting, wiring and calibration labor.

VOC End-of-Pipe Treatment

  • Activated carbon beds, RTO units and explosion-proof junction boxes each layer extra fabrication, lifting and commissioning hours.

5. Labor Variables

Geography & Complexity

  • Skilled cleanroom electricians in coastal regions earn up to 40 % more than inland crews.

  • Night shifts, high-bay work or retrofitting an existing building can tack on another 20–30 %.

Renovation vs. New Build

  • Demolition, structural reinforcement and rerouting utilities push labor hours 15–25 % above new construction.

6. Hidden Labor

Testing & Certification

  • Every HEPA filter must be scanned on site; a single ISO 5 room can require 100+ test points, each billed as a separate labor item.

  • Third-party verification teams spend 2–3 days on-site for pressure, particle count and recovery tests.

How to Spend Wisely

  • Zoning: Use higher-grade materials only where the coating head and drying zones demand them; downgrading storage areas can cut total cost by 15–25 %.

  • Prefabrication: Modular wall and duct sections reduce on-site welding and shorten labor timelines by up to 30 %.

Anside Advantage

For 15 years, Anside has refined a dual-track approach:

  • Domestic high-performance materials that save ~20 % on material spend.

  • An in-house cleanroom crew with standardized procedures to cut rework and hidden labor hours.
